Saints and Sinners

   Today, when people are searching for meaning in their lives beyond the stock market reports, or the latest political polls, spiritual leaders, such as St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila are receiving special attention.

Both saints lived at the time of the Inquisition, so, we shall begin by reviewing that sad time in history, and then proceed to a study of their lives, primarily for the purpose of receiving inspiration and some direction from the past that will give us greater ease in dealing with the present.

Not many lay Catholics know about Opus Dei, but there's not a seminarian, priest, bishop, cardinal or pope who isn't familiar with that organization ...  "They're everywhere, and everyone is afraid of them, bishops and priests, everyone. They have such power and money. Who can stop them?"
